We reached Kuala Lipis as our first stop during our eating journey to east coast. It is a very small town, but rich with its history. Kuala Lipis was the capital of Pahang state from 1898 to 1955. The town was once an important trading place for timber and gold mining. When the administrative capital of Pahang moved to Kuantan on 1955, Kuala Lipis ceased to develop. Soon, it becomes sleepy town with majority of either very young generation or elderly.
Another attraction that we came to know is "the center of Peninsular Malaysia is located in district of Kuala Lipis". Coincidentally, when we were here, RTM was doing some video shooting over here, and we spent some time looking at the way they doing the shooting. We over heard this 'new discovery' of center of Peninsular Malaysia. To further ascertain the claim, there is a milestone lettered with a "0" on it. It is the beginning of the distance marker in Peninsular Malaysia.
